Matt Ward - Principal vocal coach
Principal vocal coach, Matt Ward, is regarded as one of the most sort after vocal coaches in Queensland. As a vocal coach, Matt has the innate ability to diagnose a singers problem within minutes and provide the nesessary "tools" to get results fast. Most students notice results within in their first lesson.
His clients range from musical theatre professionals to solo recording artists to punk/rock bands. They have been featured on The Voice Australia, Australia's Got Talent and signed to international record labels. They have also featured in lead roles in musicals such as Cats, Annie, The King and I, The Sound of Music & the upcoming Australian productions of Aladdin & Matilda the musicals.
Matt's technique allows students to increase their vocal range by over an octave. He shows students how to free their voice from constriction and restraints, remove the need to strain or reach for high notes and to vocalise with a connect tone from the bottom of the voice (chestvoice) to the top (headvoice) while allowing a singer to truly focus on his or her own style.
A former Speech Level Singing Instuctor, Matts teaching career has seen him travel to New York, Los Angeles, London and Sydney where he has worked with and studied under-some of the worlds leading vocal coaches including: Seth Riggs- Founder of SLS & vocal coach to Michael Jackson & hundreds of Grammy winners: Dean Kaelin- Inernational vocal coach: Dave Stroud-American Idol tour vocal coach & vocal coach to Adam Lambert, Demi Lovato & Adrienne Angel- vocal coach to CHER and Bernadette Peters.
As well as teaching privately, Matt has worked as vocal director on Cabaret- the musical, vocal coach to Ikin Dance Australia full time dance course, Guest lecturer at leading local performing arts schools including GCTT (Gold Coast Triple Threat), The Harvest Rain Theatre Company intern programm, New York based program Making It On Broadway & currently Matt is the Artisitic Director & Vocal Coach of The Performers Studio.
Joey Bagley - MWVS associate vocal coach
Joey Bagley has been working as a professional singer, for over 25 years, enjoying a long career singing and teaching other performers. She brings her knowledge and experience from Directors and Musical Directors from all over the world, and with the last six years at Hamburg School of Entertainment in Germany.
After graduating a Bachelor of Music Theatre at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music and an Associate Diploma of Jazz Vocal, Joey played roles such as Eponine, Mary Magdelaine, and The Narrator, for Harvest Rain Productions, 'Joseph and his Technicolor Dreamcoat'. Further productions include 'Tivoli's Gaslight Gaities, Threepenny Opera and Minnie Faye from Hello Dolly, followed by an eleven year career in the Cruise Ship industry as a lead soloist in the Production shows. She is currently rehearsing for Les Miserables, in the role of Fantine with Spotlight Theatre Company.
Joey also mentors up and coming singers, Performance & Cabaret techniques at The Greenroom Project Junior at The Arts Centre Gold Coast.
She teaches with passion and works from the mind of a performer, with an outstanding knowledge of voice anatomy, in all singing styles.
